# In Frankfurt since 1876

> From C. A. Holl in 1876 via Metallverkaufsgesellschaft to our own sheet metal fabrication: 150 years of metal trading in Frankfurt, at Hanauer Landstraße 421 since 1955.

We have been trading in metal for 150 years, since 1955 at the same address in Frankfurt’s Ostend. What began as a coal and bar iron trade is today a semi-finished products warehouse with its own sheet metal fabrication.

1. 1876 **Founded as C. A. Holl** The company C. A. Holl is founded in Allerheiligenstraße in Frankfurt am Main, initially trading in coal and bar iron.
2. 1894 **Metallgesellschaft comes on board** Metallgesellschaft AG and Joseph take a stake. The company trades as Holl, Joseph & Cie. KG at Moselstraße 43 and focuses on non-ferrous metals, the focus that still applies today.
3. 1901 **Registered as a GmbH** The limited partnership becomes a GmbH (limited company).
4. 1930 **Complete takeover** Metallgesellschaft takes over the company completely.
5. 1937 **Holl becomes Metallverkaufsgesellschaft** The renaming goes hand in hand with expanding the business into scrap metal trading.
6. 1955 **Move to Hanauer Landstraße 421** New offices and warehouse facilities are built at the address where we are still based today. The focus is on semi-finished products in aluminium, copper, stainless steel and brass.
7. 1963 **A visitor from Washington** On 25 June 1963, John F. Kennedy, President of the USA, drives along Hanauer Landstraße past MVG during his visit to Frankfurt.
8. 1969 **A hall of 2,700 square metres** The warehouse grows to the area that still supports the business today.
9. 1990s **MVG Metallverkaufsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG** After several changes of name, today’s legal form is created.
10. 2001 **125 years** The company celebrates its 125th anniversary, as a metal trader in the third half-century at the same place.
11. 2010 **New administrative offices** The offices are modernised; the business switches to fully digital order processing.
12. 2023 **Our own laser** With the laser, production comes in-house: cutting, bending and deburring have since taken place at the same address as the trading business.
13. 2026 **Ordering in the browser** Configurators, instant prices from our own calculation and an order status every customer can follow online, developed in-house, because no standard software connects trading and production the way we work.

## What still counts today

A company that has been selling metal for 150 years knows its materials. You notice that not in a brochure but on the phone: whoever calls us speaks to someone who knows why a material suits its purpose and when it does not. Since 2023 there has also been our own production: trading and manufacturing in one place, one contact, short distances.

The address has stayed the same too. Hanauer Landstraße 421, since 1955. Customers from the Rhine-Main region collect their parts instead of waiting for a parcel.

## Machinery

- **Fibre laser cutting system**: Laser cutting of sheet metal parts with contours, holes and cut-outs.
- **Punch-laser combination**: Punching, laser cutting, thread forming, forming and marking in one set-up.
- **CNC guillotine shear**: Straight cuts from sheet metal plates.
- **CNC press brake**: Bending with angle measurement during the bend.
- **Saw**: Cutting bars, tubes and profiles to length.
- **Tapping machine**: Tapping threads in holes.
- **Pillar drilling machine**: Drilling and countersinking.
