The molybdenum in 1.4571 protects against pitting by chlorides, exactly where 1.4301 gives up. Titanium stabilisation also makes it insensitive to intergranular corrosion after welding. It costs more; it is used when the environment demands it.

## Properties

- Tensile strength 500 to 700 N/mm², yield strength at least 200 N/mm²
- Resistant to chlorides, road salt, sea air and many acids
- Good weldability, resistant even without post-treatment (titanium-stabilised)
- Austenitic, not hardenable
- Considerably more expensive than 1.4301

## Processing notes

Machine like 1.4301, only slightly tougher: saw slowly, cool well. Pickle or brush heat tint after welding, otherwise corrosion resistance is lost exactly there.
