Basket / Export and import

Export and import the basket

Save your basket as Excel, CSV or text. Read a parts list or a whole basket back in.

What is possible

  • Excel (.xlsx)With real numbers, lengths per cut piece, totals and delivery note.
  • CSVFor Excel in Germany (semicolon, decimal comma) or international (comma, decimal point).
  • Text for forumsAs a list or Markdown table, with or without prices.
  • Share linkQuotation as PDF and link, available for 14 days.
  • Import a parts listMVG item number, length and quantity, e.g. from a cutting list. Sheet metal blanks with material, thickness, length and width.
  • Import a complete basketThe exported file with all items, processing steps and details.

Exporting: how it works

  1. Open the basket. In the summary, tap “Export / Share / Import”.
  2. Choose a format. “Excel (.xlsx)”, “CSV (Excel Germany)” or “Copy as text”. On a phone the share menu opens: you can save the file, email it or pass it to an app.
  3. Done. Each item is on one line. Profiles and semi-finished product cuts have each length on a separate line (item 3·1, 3·2 …).

For forums: paste the copied text as a code block so the columns stay aligned. Many forums display the Markdown table directly as a table.

Importing: how it works

  1. Open the import. In the basket, tap “Import parts list or basket”. This also works with an empty basket.
  2. Choose the type. “Detect automatically” almost always fits. Otherwise “Parts list” or “Complete basket”.
  3. Choose a file or paste text. CSV, Excel or text, e.g. lines from Excel or from a forum.
  4. Check the preview. Each line shows: can be added, can be added with a note, or cannot be added with the reason. We check item, length, quantity, material and thickness as well as manufacturability.
  5. Add. “Add to basket” adds to your basket. “Replace basket” swaps it. The basket then calculates the prices.

Parts list template

The template has three example lines: a profile with two lengths and a sheet metal blank. Replace the examples with your parts.

MVG-Teileliste v1

MVG-Artikelnummer;Bezeichnung;Werkstoff;Dicke mm;Länge mm;Breite mm;Menge
4200;Flachstange Halter;;;1250;;4
4200;Flachstange Halter kurz;;;380;;6
;Abdeckblech;Aluminium AlMg3;2;500;300;2

The column headings of the parts list stay in German – that is how the import recognises them.

It also works without a header line: one line per part, e.g. 4200 1250 4 or Flach 20x5 alu 500 mm 2 Stk.

Columns

ColumnMeaningExample
MVG-ArtikelnummerItem number from the shop (semi-finished products, profiles, accessories). “Art.-Nr.” or “Artikelnummer” as a heading also works.4200

The export also contains dimensions, processing, weight, unit price and line price net and gross. For a complete basket, a “Configuration” block follows at the end. It contains the exact version of each item and must not be changed. You may change quantities and lengths in the table.

Limits and common errors

  • At most 2 MB and 500 lines per import. CSV, XLSX and text only.
  • “Please check the MVG item number”: the number is shown on every item page.
  • “Length outside the permitted range”: the length is longer than the bar. Please choose a shorter length or split it.
  • “Several items match”: if you used search text instead of an item number, please give the exact number.
  • “Please choose a thickness from the shop”: choose a thickness that the shop offers for this material. Feel free to ask us about other thicknesses.
  • Bent parts and file parts (STEP, DXF, part designer) only work via “Complete basket”. If the file is no longer stored, it says “please upload again”.
  • Single pieces from the offcut shop are chosen again directly in the offcut shop.
  • Excel shows special characters wrongly? The file is UTF-8. Open the CSV in Excel via “Data” → “From Text/CSV” or use the Excel file.

Prices

Prices in the export are subject to change and apply as of the date given in the file. On import we take no prices from the file. The basket always recalculates with today's prices. We calculate shipping based on your address.

Questions and answers

Are prices taken over from my file?

No. On import, the basket recalculates all prices using today's prices. Prices in the file are for information only.

Can I read an exported basket back in?

Yes. The Excel or CSV file from the export contains all items with their configuration. When importing, choose “Complete basket” or “Detect automatically”.

Which files can I import?

CSV (semicolon, comma or tab), Excel (.xlsx) and text. At most 2 MB and 500 lines. Macros and formulas are not executed.

Why do I have to confirm the visible side or dimension reference again?

These details determine how we make your bent part. From a file they only count as a suggestion. You confirm them in the basket with one tap.

What happens to uploaded STEP or DXF parts?

The import finds the file again via its ID as long as it is stored with us. If it is no longer there, the preview shows “please upload again”.

Do you store my import file?

No. The file is only read for the check and then discarded.
