Production for sheet metal parts
Punching and laser cutting.
In one set-up.
Our punch-laser combination punches, cuts with the laser, forms threads, forms and marks. The sheet stays in the machine throughout. You order your part as usual. We choose the right process.
The system
Punching and laser cutting are combined in one machine. This saves re-clamping and intermediate steps: holes, formed features, threads and contour are produced in one operation.
Our production standard for laser parts is ± 0.1 mm; laser cutting to DIN EN ISO 9013 class 2.
What the punch-laser combination can do
Punching
A tool punches holes and openings out of the sheet. This is fast when the part contains many identical shapes: round holes, slotted holes, square openings.
Laser cutting
The laser cuts free contours in the same set-up. Outer contours and special shapes are created without a dedicated tool.
Thread forming
The machine can form threads. You order threads on a laser part as an additional service in the part designer.
Forming and marking
You can conveniently request forming and marking with a review request. We check whether our tooling suits your part.
Punching or laser?
You do not need to decide. For each part, we choose the process that manufactures it reliably and economically. As a guide:
Punching is well suited to
- many identical standard holes in one part, for example rows of holes in housing panels,
- series with identical openings,
- formed features and markings.
The laser is well suited to
- free contours and single parts, as it needs no tool,
- large parts up to the laser working area of 2,980 × 1,490 mm,
- thicker sheets (the configurator shows the thicknesses available for each material).
Limits
- Part size: The configurator checks against the laser working area of 2,980 × 1,490 mm. Larger parts are produced on our laser cutting system.
- Sheet thickness: The thicknesses offered in the material selection are available. The configurator applies the rules for each material and thickness.
- Holes, webs, edge distance: The same rules apply as for laser parts. The configurator checks them automatically.
- Burr: When punching, a slight burr may form on the exit side of the tool. If one side will be visible later, please mention this in the order note. We are happy to remove burrs on request.
Design notes
- Use identical hole sizes. Few different diameters mean few tool changes.
- Keep a distance from the bend. Holes close to the bend line distort during bending. The configurator shows the minimum distances.
- Choose threads in the designer. The part designer sets the core hole and the price for you.
- Request special shapes. Send formed features, markings or unusual hole patterns as a review request.
How to order
- 01
Create your part
Draw the part in the part designer or upload a STEP or DXF file.
- 02
Check and price
The configurator checks the part against our rules and shows the price instantly.
- 03
Borderline case? Review request
If the part is at a limit or you need a formed feature, send a review request. We look at the part and get back to you with a price.
Frequently asked questions
Can I specifically order punching?
You order the part, not the machine. We choose the process that manufactures your part reliably. If you have a particular reason for a process, please add it to the order note.
From what quantity?
From 1 piece. The configurator shows the quantity scale for your part.
Can I also order bent parts?
Yes. Draw holes and bends in the part designer or upload a STEP file. We cut or punch first and bend afterwards.
