S235JR is the unalloyed structural steel for structures of all kinds. Hot-rolled means: with mill scale, without surface treatment. It is the lowest-cost material in our range and the only one that rusts without protection.

• Yield strength at least 235 N/mm², tensile strength 360 to 510 N/mm²
• Very good weldability with all common processes
• Easy to form and drill
• Not corrosion-resistant: coating or galvanising required
• Lowest-cost structural material

Processing notes

Remove the mill scale before painting, otherwise no coating will hold. Protect cut edges immediately after cutting, because surface rust forms within hours.
