Start from the finished part
First record the shape the finished part should have. For a simple L, U or Z shape, the bent part configurator guides you to the dimensions via a template. You can upload a component that is already modelled as a STEP file.
Mind the meaning of the dimensions
Outside dimension, inside dimension and the straight flange section describe different distances. Follow the dimension lines of the configurator and compare them with your drawing. In an enquiry, state which edges a dimension refers to.
Consider tool and sheet together
A short flange, a tight return bend or a cut-out close to a bend can make manufacturing more difficult. Whether the shape is possible depends on the specific part, the material, the thickness and the tool. Our design guidelines explain the MVG check values; the figures of another company cannot simply be transferred.
Clarify questions before release
Compare the preview with the desired finished part. Read the notes shown and explain critical connection dimensions or special requirements to us. If the automatic check reports a limit, change the design or have the part checked manually.
