Ms 63 is the classic wrought alloy of 63 % copper and 37 % zinc: easy to cold-form, pleasant to work and with the characteristic golden-yellow colour. It is used wherever appearance plays a part, and in electrical engineering where conductivity with higher strength than copper matters.
Properties
- Very easy to cold-form
- Good machinability and solderability
- Corrosion-resistant in normal atmospheres
- Tarnishes in air and takes on a warm tone
Surface finish
Bright-rolled. For a permanently consistent sheen, apply clear lacquer; otherwise the surface tarnishes over time.

Design rules and bending
Bending works well; brass is softer than steel and forms cleanly. With small radii it work-hardens and can become brittle.
Cutting methods and tolerances
We cut rectangular blanks on the guillotine shear. DIN ISO 2768-m applies to length and width; the cut edge is sheared, and a slight roll-over and a burr are normal in production. We laser-cut parts with cut-outs, holes or free contours.
