Properties and data sheet
- Designation
- SF-Cu / Cu-DHP (CW024A)
CW numbers explained - Density
- 8.96 kg/dm³
- Thicknesses
- 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5 mm
- Processing
- Laser cutting, bending, deburring
Copper is chosen for two very different reasons: for its electrical and thermal conductivity or for its appearance. SF-Cu is oxygen-free and phosphorus-deoxidised and therefore easy to solder and weld: the usual grade for sheet metal work.
Properties
- Very high electrical and thermal conductivity
- Soft and very easy to form
- Easy to solder and weld
- Tarnishes in air and forms a green patina over the years
Surface finish
Bright from the mill, it darkens within weeks. If you want to keep it as new, apply clear lacquer; if you want the patina, leave it untreated.
Equivalents
CW024A corresponds to SF-Cu · 2.0090 · M1f. All 3 designations by country and standard →
Design rules and bending
Bending is uncritical: copper is soft and forms easily. Watch out for dents: the surface takes on every touch.
Cutting methods and tolerances
We cut rectangular blanks on the guillotine shear. DIN ISO 2768-m applies to length and width; the cut edge is sheared, and a slight roll-over and a burr are normal in production. We laser-cut parts with cut-outs, holes or free contours.
Typical applications and bent parts
- Busbars, contact and earthing sheets
- Heat sinks and heat-conducting sheets
- Roof and facade details
- Crafts and decorative work
