1.4016 is a ferritic chromium steel without nickel. Unlike 1.4301, it is magnetic: magnets hold securely on the surface. With its glossy 2R surface, the sheet is the first choice for magnetic boards, magnetic walls and pinboards in kitchen, office and children's room.

Properties

  • Magnetic; magnets hold directly on the surface
  • Nickel-free, ferritic chromium steel
  • For indoor use: kitchen, office, living room
  • Protective film on one side; the film-covered side is the visible side

Surface finish

Bright-annealed on one side (2R) with protective film. Intended for indoor use; for outdoors and damp areas choose 1.4301. Only peel off the film after installation.

Questions

Is 1.4016 AISI 430?

Yes. 1.4016 corresponds to AISI 430. Sheet to EN 10088-2.

Which surfaces are available online?

2R with film. Further versions on quotation in the Sheet metal range.

Is an inspection certificate 3.1 available?

Yes, if a certificate to EN 10204 is on file for the material: as an option in the basket, €15 net per order.

Why is there lettering on my stainless steel part?

Stainless steel sheets carry a mill marking with material and heat number. This is normal and links your part to the inspection certificate. The rolling mill determines where the marking sits on the sheet. Deburring or grinding weakens it, but it may still show through. You can remove the marking without residue using cellulose thinner and a clean cloth.
