Properties and data sheet

Designation
1.4571 (X6CrNiMoTi17-12-2) to DIN EN 10088-2, commonly known as V4A
Density
8 kg/dm³
Thicknesses
0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 mm
Processing
Laser cutting, bending, deburring

1.4571 is the molybdenum-bearing stainless steel for environments where 1.4301 reaches its limits: chlorides from sea air, de-icing salt or swimming pool air trigger pitting much later. Titanium stabilisation also makes it insensitive to intergranular corrosion after welding. It costs more than 1.4301; you choose it when the environment demands it.

Properties

  • About 2 % molybdenum: resistant to pitting from chlorides
  • Titanium-stabilised, therefore insensitive to intergranular corrosion after welding
  • Not magnetic as delivered; slightly magnetisable by cold forming
  • Work-hardens during forming and springs back more than steel when bent

Surface finish

Mill finish (2B). For visible parts we also supply 1.4571 brushed on one side with grit 240 (K240); in the configurator choose “Stainless steel 1.4571 brushed K240” and the visible side.

Questions

Is 1.4571 V4A or AISI 316Ti?

Yes. 1.4571 (V4A) corresponds to AISI 316Ti. Sheet to EN 10088-2.

Which surfaces are available online?

2B, brushed K240. Further versions on quotation in the Sheet metal range.

Is an inspection certificate 3.1 available?

Yes, if a certificate to EN 10204 is on file for the material: as an option in the basket, €15 net per order.

Why is there lettering on my stainless steel part?

Stainless steel sheets carry a mill marking with material and heat number. This is normal and links your part to the inspection certificate. The rolling mill determines where the marking sits on the sheet. Deburring or grinding weakens it, but it may still show through. You can remove the marking without residue using cellulose thinner and a clean cloth.
