- Laser cutting, bending, deburring
AlMg3 is the aluminium alloy most frequently used for sheet: about a third of the weight of steel, naturally corrosion-resistant and still easy to form. It resists seawater and industrial atmospheres and can be welded. The usual choice for anything that should be light and stands outdoors.
Properties
- Density 2.7 kg/dm³, about a third of steel
- Very good corrosion resistance, also against seawater
- Easy to cold-form and weld
- Softer than steel: sensitive to scratches and dents
Surface finish
Mill finish, naturally with a thin oxide layer. For visible surfaces, AlMg1 anodised (E6/EV1) and painted sheets in RAL 7016 and RAL 9016 are available directly online, finished at the mill.

Design rules and bending
Bending up to 8 mm sheet thickness, more than for steel and stainless steel. Aluminium needs larger inside radii than steel, otherwise the outer fibre cracks.
| Thickness | Minimum flange | Inside radius | Hole to bend edge |
|---|---|---|---|

| 0.8 mm | 8 mm | 1 mm | 5 mm |

Cutting methods and tolerances
We cut rectangular blanks on the guillotine shear. DIN ISO 2768-m applies to length and width; the cut edge is sheared, and a slight roll-over and a burr are normal in production. We laser-cut parts with cut-outs, holes or free contours.
Typical applications and bent parts
- Vehicle, plant and tank construction
- Terrace, balcony and facade cladding
- Housings and covers where weight matters
